WHAT IS THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH?
Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I wear?
Wear what makes you comfortable in this space. For some people it's a suit and tie, for others it's jeans and a polo shirt. In the summer, dress is more casual.
May I receive communion?
The Episcopal Church welcomes all the baptized to receive communion at Zion. We do not question people at the rail. If you are interested in Baptism or have further questions, set up a time to talk to our priest by contacting our parish office. If for any reason you don’t want to receive either the bread or the wine, you may come to the altar rail for a blessing. Cross your hands on your chest to let the ministers know that you don’t want to receive either the bread or the wine and the priest will offer you a blessing.
Communion: What if I am gluten free or avoid alcohol?
Gluten free communion is available, just let one of our ushers know you would like a gluten free wafer when you enter the church. You do not need to consume any wine to participate! If you choose not to receive the wine, simply cross your arms over your heart when the wine is presented to you. Communion counts whether you take both the bread and the wine or only the bread or the wine.
Will I be welcomed if I am gay/transgender/BIPOC...?
Yes! All people are welcome at Zion.
What if I am in a wheelchair?
The entrance to our church is accessible for wheelchair users via a ramp located on the left side of the church. Unfortunately, at this time, our bathrooms in the church are not fully accessible to those using a wheelchair.
What if I have children? Can they stay with me?
Children of all ages are welcome to stay with you in worship! And, if your children are with you at church, don't worry if they make noise. That's how they worship!
How do I know what to say/read/do?
There are instructions! Our service bulletins contain everything you need to worship at Zion in one convenient place. And, it's okay if you don't know what to do - some of us are still figuring it out.
How do I know when to sit/stand/kneel?
Many Episcopalians have attended services for decades and still don't know! You may follow the lead of others. Keep in mind, some people have different opinions of what to do when. Which means, may find some people kneeling or sitting when others are standing. You are invited to do what is most comfortable for you.
If I need to use the restroom, is it okay if I leave during the service? Where are the restrooms?
Feel free to leave the service if you need to. Restrooms from the Nave (the main worship space) are located in the front right side of the church through the doorway by the baptismal font. Follow the short hallway and turn to the right. There is a second restroom directly below the upstairs restroom, just head down the staircase on your left!
What is the difference between the 8 am service and the 10:30 am service?
Our 8 am service is a contemplate service with no music which uses traditional, more formal language ("thee," "thou"). It lasts about 45 minutes. Our 10:30 am service uses more contemporary language, has music and a choir, and tends to be a little longer, about an hour. Eucharist is offered at both services.
What is coffee hour?
Coffee Hour is a time when we experience the presence of God in the form of fellowship and light refreshments. It is held immediately following our 8 am service and after most 10:30 am services. It is held in the Narthex (entrance) of the church.
How do I become a member of Zion?
You have already made the first step by joining us for Sunday Worship! However, your connection can be deepened through regular participation in worship and involvement in parish ministries. Depending upon your situation, you may wish to be fully connected through Baptism, Confirmation, or Full Reception into the Episcopal Church at some point down the line. For now, just know you are welcome!
How do I financially contribute to Zion?
Financial stewardship is one of the ways we support the vital work of ministry in our parish. All parishioners are essential partners in the financial support of our parish mission. Members are invited to prayerfully consider offering back to God some portion of what God has given them. To have your offerings recorded, you may, at any time, request a pledge card.
